Greetings loyal readers and newcomers!
I have been AFK (away from keyboard) for a while, as I was busy writing, then presenting a paper in Finland, among other things, but I am back with some great news!
First of all, TGA has new contributors! Emma Louise Backe and Nicholas Mizer will be publishing their first post shortly about their interests in anthropology and their ties to their geek background. Look out for the very interesting pieces they have lined up for upcoming months. You can find out more about them here.
Second, the panel Nicholas Mizer and I are co-organizing has been accepted into the 2013 AAA annual meeting programming! Nicholas presented a call for papers right here on TGA a few months ago and he assembled a great panel about geek anthropology with some papers about geek chic, gay geeks or geek girls, to name a few examples. I wouldn’t want to give it all up to you right away, now would I? I will share the final program once it becomes available.
Finally, I am happy to announce that starting next month a new column will be added to TGA. Creatively titled Reviews, it will feature, you guessed it, reviews of books, journal issues and articles relevant to themes explored on this blog. I hope you will enjoy this column, recommend some works or even submit a review if you feel like it.
