In the last few months, Nicholas Mizer, Emma Louise Backe and myself have been working relentlessly to transform The Geek Anthropologist into a community blog that will serve as a hub for all geek anthropologists interested in geek culture and geeky things, whether they are aspiring or experienced.
Through this process, the blog I had founded on my own in September 2012, and had been using as my own, evolved beautifully into a collective creation. Some of the pieces I had written in a more personal voice were relocated to my personal blog, THAT SORT OF THING, while others, which were no longer relevant in light of the revised focus of TGA, were deleted.
What you have before you is a now more cohesive, coherent and purely amazing anthropology blog.
It is only normal, then, that all social media accounts associated with TGA reflect these changes. In other words, it is quite possible that if following you on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ or Tumblr is not entirely relevant in relation to the updated focus of TGA, I will have to ”unfollow” you.
Don’t worry, I’ll be able to follow you from my personal Twitter and Google+ accounts. After all, it’s not that I don’t like you anymore, it’s just that TGA’s social media accounts are no longer only my own. Other TGA contributors will use them, and we hope to recruit a savvy community manager shortly. (Interested?)
While we are on the topic of social media, I want to offer sincere thanks to everyone who has supported TGA over the course of the last two years and a half. Wherever you read us, whether you share our work frequently or comment once every few months, my colleagues and I are extremely grateful for the time you invest in letting us know that you appreciate what we write.
We hope what we have planned for the future will dazzle you even more!
